Nyrak brings extreme metal into Dolby Atmos with new EP Faceless Tyrant

Belgian progressive black metal band Nyrak released their new digital EP Faceless Tyrant on May 27, 2025. This release is part of an experimental Dolby Atmos project, positioning Nyrak among the first metal bands at the forefront of immersive audio: the tracks were specifically composed and recorded for an Atmos experience.

The songs "Rise of Dagon" and "Faceless Tyrant" are available in Dolby Atmos on Tidal and Apple Music. The EP also includes a Nyrak-style reworked cover of Satyricon’s classic “Mother North”, which is exclusively available via Bandcamp due to licensing restrictions. This cover is presented in stereo.

Another track on the EP is “The Eyes of Time”, a cinematic reinterpretation of the opening track from Nyrak’s previous album Devourer of All, released on May 3, 2024. This version was recorded as a separate stereo track.

Faceless Tyrant is thematically layered, focusing on dehumanization, control, and the struggle against the invisible. Musically, Nyrak stays true to their uncompromising vision: a blend of intense black metal, orchestral textures, post-metal influences and cinematic atmosphere.

Although this EP was an unexpected side project, it forms a logical bridge to what’s coming next: Nyrak’s third full-length album will be released this November, continuing the band’s thematic and musical journey.
